California Green Channel, Clean Solar, and SABA Motors Team Up to Showcase Solar Powered Transportation at San Jose's Hybrids2Hotrods

California Green Channel, Clean Solar, and SABA Motors Team Up to Create a Showcase for Renewable and Efficient Energy and Green Transportation at San Jose's Hybrids2Hotrods

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 19, 2011 - The Hybrids2Hotrods event sponsored by the San Jose Mercury News provides the perfect platform to feature leading edge EV design and innovations in Solar and Home Energy Efficiency. California Green Channel, Clean Solar and SABA Motors have teamed up to showcase the Carbon Zero, 100% Electric Roadster, EV Charging, and high quality, efficient solar power for residential consumers and businesses moving to renewable energy. A fully-assembled SunPods solar array will be on display to demonstrate how solar works.

In keeping with the "hands-on" and "test-drive" theme of Hybrids2Hotrods, the three companies will create a visual and educational exhibit. The team's Green Transportation feature will be SABA Motors' Carbon Zero Roadster designed by Simon Saba. Simon's vision was to design a 100% EV sports car that would be affordable to the public. Innovative design elements include a 42% lighter vehicle combined with an 85% more efficient use of energy - making the Carbon Zero Roadster attractive to both auto and electric car enthusiasts. The vehicle is endorsed by Mike Hennessy, Hybrids2HotRods co-host, TV host of The Car Guy Channel and producer of the popular Hot San Jose Nights.

Clean Solar, California Green Channel and Energy Upgrade California™ participating contractors will enhance the efficiency theme by educating visitors on the benefits of assessing home energy performance. The event will also highlight how to take advantage of rebates offered by Energy Upgrade California™ with high-value energy improvements. Qualified single family homeowners can receive rebates up to $4,000 in Santa Clara County and up to $8,000 in San Mateo County. A new Santa Clara County program also offers homeowners an 80% rebate for qualified energy assessment testing fees up to $800. "Lowering electrical bills by improving energy efficiency is a first step in the move to clean, renewable energy," said Bill Brittan, California Green Channel founding member. "Evaluating home or business energy use is a reduce and then produce methodology that promotes saving energy first thus lowering the size requirements and cost of installing solar and other renewable energy solutions."

Clean Solar completes the display with expertise on residential and commercial solar installations. They will be showcasing a hands-on and up-close view of a SunPods' ground-mounted solar array featuring SunPower modules. Because the SunPod is the first modular, factory-built solar array - a complete solar system can be displayed at events. An EV charging station will be used to demonstrate how EV owners can design an EV solar charging station completely independent from the grid or plug in to grid power and use solar as an energy offset. "As more people and businesses move to EV powered vehicles, they will look for ways to offset the increased power usage with renewable energy. Solar is the perfect alternative," said Randy Zechman, CEO of Clean Solar. He adds, "Whether designing rooftop or ground mount solar, Clean Solar's focus is to install the most efficient system and provide financing and rebate assistance to ensure that solar is a good return on our client's investment."

The Hybrids2Hotrods event is on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Jose Mercury News facility located at 750 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA 95190. Admission is free.
