Sun-Bus Solar Power System™
The Sun-Bus Power System is the newest innovation at SunPods. The SunPods system was developed to allow bus owners to meet new state mandated requirements for improving air quality and lowering fuel consumption by eliminating excessive stationary bus idling time. SunPods applies thin film photovoltaic panels directly to the roof surface of the bus and adds other system components such as the inverter, batteries, charge controllers and wiring under the floor deck. The system is virtually transparent to passengers yet provides electricity to power WiFi, mobile devices and air conditioning units while the bus is parked and the engine is turned off.
The SunPods Sun-Bus Power System provides a unique solution for the growing number of bus passengers – most of which are commuters. The solar energy, stored in on-board batteries, provides continuous connectivity, mobile charging and media for passengers during long stops. The bus operator can now turn engines off without interrupting passenger services to still comply with diesel emission regulations and contribute to a greener environment. The Sun-Bus Power System is customizable for a variety of bus models and motor homes.
